Punjab Language Department holds ‘Face-to-Face’ event with eminent Punjabi Poet Gurtej Koharwala

Ferozepur, April 28, 2022: Language Department, Punjab on Friday, organized a programme ‘Face-to-Face with Punjabi Ghazalgo Gurtej Koharwala’ at the local Ram Sukh Dass College.
The function started with the singing of the tune 'Dhanu Likhari Nanaka' by the Language Department. Dr.Jagdeep Singh Sandhu, District Language Officer, Prof Jaspal Ghai were also present on this occasion.
Prof Kuldeep Singh, Asstt Prof Head Punjabi Deptt and Patron Language Forum RSD College introduced Prof Gurtej Koharwala with his achievements and recited his verses, giving a literary and interesting tone to the occasion
On this occasion, Gurtej Koharwala during his ‘face to face talk about the process of creation of poetry and the method of existence’ in a very subtle way. According to him, poetry is the first art of the world and the poet embarks on a complex journey connecting with the present and future societies before him. During this journey, the poet goes through the pain of the whole society by moving from self to society.
Koharwala said it is more important for poetry to be poetically correct than to be technically correct. They become part of the world of poetry. Responding to a question from eminent story writer Gurdial Singh Virk, he said that in his poetry, the pain and cries are not his personal but the experience gained while feeling the warmth of the society. In replying to other questions from Sukhjinder, Gurmeet Juj, and students, Koharwala answered that in the creation of the poetry process, he has played the role of a capable and sensitive poet.
Present among others were Harmeet Vidyarthi, Dr. Kulbir malik, Balwinder Panesar, Amandeep Johal, Patwari Mangat Ram, former Deputy Medical Commissioner Dr GS Dhillon, Navdeep Singh Juni, Dr Amandeep Singh, Dr.Jeetpal Singh, Prof Yadinder Singh, Prof Baltej Singh, college staff and students.
