SAS Nagar, April 27, 2022:
The number of beds in the Drug de-addiction and Rehabilitation Center at Sector-66 here would be increased from 50 to 70. It was disclosed by Amit Talwar, Deputy Commissioner during his visit to this drug de-addiction and rehabilitation center to review the working of the Center. The Deputy Commissioner also interacted with the patients admitted for treatment at the rehabilitation center and inquired about their health.
Amit Talwar said that the de-addiction and rehabilitation centers were proving to be a boon for the patients suffering from CHITTA or other medical drugs as the medicine is given through OPD and patients need not be hospitalized. Patients can go home after taking the medicines. The Deputy Commissioner informed that the purpose of today's visit was to review the stock of medicines being provided to the patients at this de-addiction center besides checking the status of government facilities at the center. He said that considering the number of patients admitted to the rehabilitation center, it has been decided to increase the number of beds from the current 50 beds to 70. The Deputy Commissioner also inquired about the need for additional staff from the doctors stationed at the center and assured the doctors on the spot that if they need mail staff nurses, ward attendants, security guards, or counselors then the staff will be provided by passing a resolution in the meeting of District de-addiction and Rehabilitation Society. The Chairperson of this District Level Society is the Deputy Commissioner himself. Meanwhile, he directed the authorities to ensure cleanliness in the de-addiction center to keep the environment healthy.
Talwar also made a social appeal that in order to eradicate the social evil of drugs we should all work together and make people more aware of the ill effects of drugs and help those who have fallen into the trap of drugs for any reason. He said that drug addiction makes a person hollow from the inside. This is a huge loss of money, time, and body. He said that the drug addicts who want to get rid of this habit can reach out to a drug de-addiction center. The government provides free medicines and other facilities in these de-addiction centers.
On this occasion Deputy Medical Commissioner Dr. Diljit Singh, Dr. Gurmukh Singh and other officers were present.
