MP Vikramjit Sahni demands action against those spreading hatred against Sikh community on social media
Sahni wrote a letter to Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur requesting him to immediately block such accounts.

Chandigarh, February 20, 2024: Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab, Vikramjit Singh Sahni has expressed his pain and deep concern over several social media accounts spreading hate speech against the Sikh community and propagating communal discord.
Sawhney wrote a letter to Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur demanding that such accounts should be immediately blocked using the emergency power under the IT Rules 2021 and FIRs should be registered against the culprits so that no one from any community is arrested. Let this be a lesson for everyone to think before writing even derogatory comments.
Sahni attached a dossier of screenshots of various social media posts containing hateful comments, which read, "Look how Khalistani terrorists create havoc", "In a scenario where a significant section of Sikhs have become deadly terrorist Khalistanis. ..". "These people are increasingly adopting anti-national stance..." "Once again the time of 1984 has come", "Harmandir - A temple was converted into a Gurudwara by destroying the idols, let us claim Harmandir File a petition for" ..... "Now they should be treated like the Sikh Genocide of 1984 in every city of India" and "Sikh Gurus were rightly martyred by Muslim emperors...”
Sahni said that some of these comments are very derogatory and are spreading communal tension in our country, which should be nipped in the bud for peaceful co-existence of all religions and communities.
