International Yoga Day 2026: Haryana plans statewide campaign on ‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing’

Chandigarh, May 29, 2026: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Friday said the state government is committed to taking yoga to every household and transforming International Yoga Day celebrations into a mass public movement across Haryana.
Chairing a high-level review meeting on preparations for International Yoga Day-2026, the Chief Minister directed officials to organise large-scale events with maximum public participation from villages to cities across the state. Haryana Cabinet Minister Arti Rao was also present during the meeting.
The state-level main event will be held in Panchkula, while yoga programmes will also be organised at district, sub-division and gram panchayat levels.
Highlighting this year’s theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” Nayab Singh Saini said special yoga camps, awareness drives and outreach programmes would be conducted to encourage senior citizens to adopt healthier lifestyles through yoga.
The Chief Minister said yoga has earned global recognition under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and added that the Haryana Government is working towards the vision of a “Healthy India, Healthy Haryana” by connecting the younger generation with India’s traditional values and wellness practices.
He instructed officials to ensure participation from schools, colleges, panchayats, social organisations and voluntary groups so that the campaign reaches every section of society.
Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, Sumita Misra presented a detailed roadmap for the statewide celebrations.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Haryana Yog Aayog, Jaideep Arya, said awareness rallies, Yoga Jagran Yatras and yoga training camps will be organised across Haryana ahead of International Yoga Day.
He informed that Yoga Jagran Yatras will be held from June 8 to June 10, a Yoga Marathon on June 15, and yoga protocol training camps from June 16 to June 18. The final rehearsal for Yoga Day celebrations will take place on June 19.
