Four-Day Badminton Tournaments held at Shaheed Bhagat Singh State University
Ferozepur, October 26: A four-day Badminton Tournament was organised at Shaheed Bhagat Singh State University (SBSSU), Ferozepur, as part of the ongoing Annual Intra-Year University Sports Competition 2026.
The tournament was conducted under the guidance of Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Suresh Kumar Sharma, who attended the opening ceremony and encouraged students to actively participate in sports along with their academic pursuits. He emphasised that regular participation in sports helps students maintain physical fitness and develop discipline and team spirit.
Registrar Dr. Rajiv Arora also interacted with the players and motivated them to participate wholeheartedly in sports activities, highlighting their importance in physical fitness and overall personality development.
The tournament was coordinated by Sports In-Charge (Girls) Navdeep Kaur Jhajj, with support from Sports In-Charge (Degree-Boys) Talwinder Singh. Event In-Charge Dr. R.P. Singh and Co-Event In-Charge Davinder Kumar Monga also contributed to the smooth conduct of the tournament.
In the Boys Singles, Shambu Kumar won the gold medal, Lovepreet Singh secured silver, while Prajeet Singh and Jagjit Singh won bronze medals. In the Girls Singles, Gurleen Kaur bagged gold, Gurrleen Kaur won silver, while Manisha and Suyashi secured bronze medals. In the Boys Doubles, Shambu Kumar and Ankit Kumar clinched gold, Naman Gaba and Param Partap Singh won silver, while Anmoldeep Singh and Aditya Meena, along with Bahadur Singh and Jagdev Kumar, secured bronze medals.
In the Girls Doubles, Gurrleen Kaur and Gagandeep won gold, Hamakshi and Charandeep secured silver, while Suyashi and Umisha, along with Nidhi and Yashika, won bronze medals. In the Mixed Doubles, Bharat and Suhani claimed gold, Anmol and Ramandeep won silver, while Anurag and Gurleen Kaur, along with Jatin and Daizy, secured bronze medals.
Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Suresh Kumar Sharma and Registrar Dr. Rajiv Arora congratulated all the participants and medal winners and appreciated the sports committee and organising team for successfully conducting the tournament.
