Himachal’s Irina Thakur appointed India’s Deputy High Commissioner to Australia

Keylong (Lahaul-Spiti), September 13: Bringing pride to Himachal Pradesh on the international stage, Irina Thakur, a native of Shansha village in Lahaul, has been appointed as India’s Deputy High Commissioner to Australia. She will assume her new role at the Indian High Commission in Canberra.
A 2012-batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer, Thakur secured her place in the civil services through the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination.
Over the years, she has served in several key positions within the Ministry of External Affairs, contributing to India’s diplomatic outreach.
Her journey from a remote border village in Himachal’s Lahaul to representing India at the global level is being hailed as an inspiration for future generations.
