IPS officer CV Anand likely to be appointed as Telangana DGP
Babushahi Bureau
Hyderabad (Telangana), April 25, 2026:Telangana is finally set to get a full-time Director General of Police, with 1991-batch senior IPS officer C V Anand likely to be appointed to the post.
The development comes as incumbent DGP B Shivadhar Reddy is due to retire on April 30, opening the door for a leadership transition at the top of the state police force. Official sources suggest that Anand is expected to assume charge in the first week of May.
Currently serving as Special Chief Secretary in the Home Department, Anand is known for his administrative experience and clean track record. He has previously served as Director General of the Anti-Corruption Bureau and as Hyderabad Police Commissioner.
Recent bureaucratic reshuffles have further indicated his likely elevation. The appointment of Shikha Goel as Principal Secretary (Home), effectively replacing Anand in the department, is being seen as a move to clear the way for his transition to the DGP role.
