ADC urges farmers to avoid stubble burning; 3 farmers face red entries, 9 warned
Ferozepur, October 20, 2025: Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Amit Sareen visited several villages to interact with farmers and discuss agricultural issues, particularly the management of paddy stubble to prevent stubble burning. He appealed to farmers not to set their fields on fire under any circumstances and instead adopt technical methods for proper disposal of stubble.
Highlighting the harmful impact, Sareen said that burning stubble not only damages the environment but also causes severe air pollution in nearby villages and towns, posing serious health risks to people.
He warned that strict action would be taken against violators. So far, red entries have been made against three farmers, while nine others have been issued stern warnings.
The ADC further informed that the government and the agriculture department are taking multiple initiatives to protect the environment. He urged farmers to use modern machinery to either convert stubble into bales or mix it back into the soil, which also helps retain soil fertility. He reiterated that legal action will be enforced against anyone found burning stubble.
