Chandigarh, October 10, 2025: The Haryana government has announced a three-day holiday for schools, coinciding with the festival of Karva Chauth, Sunday, and Valmiki Jayanti. All government schools in the state will remain closed, giving students and teachers an extended break.
Karva Chauth is a significant festival for Hindu women, observed with a fast for the long life and well-being of their husbands, symbolizing marital love and devotion.
As per the state government notification, schools will remain closed on Friday for Karva Chauth, followed by the second Saturday holiday, and Sunday. Schools are scheduled to reopen on Monday.
Haryana’s official school calendar also includes four local holidays: Good Friday, Buddha Purnima, Karva Chauth, and Guru Tegh Bahadur Martyrdom Day, along with other public and optional holidays, ensuring students have ample time for festivals and cultural observances.
