Chandigarh, August 8, 2025 — The ongoing strike by contractual employees of PRTC and PUNBUS in Punjab has been temporarily suspended until August 13 following discussions with the state government.
The strike, launched in protest against the continuation of the kilometre scheme tender, had caused major inconvenience to the public, especially during the Rakhi festival. Workers had expressed strong resentment over the government’s decision not to cancel the tender.
Union representatives said the government has been given time until August 13 to address their demands.
If no resolution is reached by then, employees may resume their strike. With the suspension of the protest, bus services have now returned to normal across the state.
