Ferozepur admn restricts sale of Pregabalin above 75 Mg
Ferozepur, October 16, 2026: The district administration has restricted the sale of Pregabalin capsules and tablets containing more than 75 mg, citing concerns over their misuse. Additional District Magistrate Dr Amandeep Kaur issued the orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023.
The orders follow a report from the Civil Surgeon, Ferozepur, regarding the alleged widespread misuse of the drug by certain anti-social elements.
Retailers, chemists, medical store owners and hospital pharmacists have been directed not to sell Pregabalin 75 mg without an original prescription. They must maintain complete records of its purchase and sale, including bills and prescription details.
The original prescription must bear the seller’s stamp and mention details such as the date of purchase and quantity supplied. Sellers must also ensure that the same prescription has not already been used at another outlet and that medicine is supplied only for the period prescribed by the doctor.
For patients who genuinely require Pregabalin, the medicine will be available through the Jan Aushadhi Generic Drug Store operating at Civil Hospital, Ferozepur City, subject to the prescribed safeguards. The orders will remain in force for two months from the date of issuance.
