Kapurthala (Punjab), January 5, 2025: Former MLA from the Kapurthala Assembly constituency and former Punjab Transport Minister, Sardar Raghbir Singh, passed away on Sunday following a brief illness. He was taken to Beas Hospital for treatment, where he breathed his last.
Sardar Raghbir Singh was a close associate of the late Chief Minister and towering Akali leader Sardar Parkash Singh Badal, often regarded as the “Baba Bohar” of Akali politics.
Fondly referred to by the public as “Minister Sahib,” he was widely respected for his simplicity, integrity, and people-centric leadership.
Known as a noble-hearted leader, Sardar Raghbir Singh maintained strong grassroots connections and was admired across party lines for his dignified conduct in public life. His demise has cast a pall of gloom over the political and social circles of Kapurthala and the wider region.
According to family sources, the last rites will be performed after the arrival of family members from abroad. Further details regarding the funeral will be shared in due course.
