Chandigarh, August 30, 2025 – Haryana’s Energy, Transport and Labour Minister, Anil Vij, on Friday described the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) as the world’s largest volunteer organization, asserting that it nurtures citizens with nationalism and helps build character in society.
Responding to media queries on Uttar Pradesh Congress President Ajay Rai’s remarks, who had described RSS as an “army of Vidur,” Vij strongly defended the organization.
He said, “RSS has 48 branches engaged in different forms of social service, and it remains dedicated to preserving India’s Sanatan culture.”
Attacking the opposition, Vij alleged that Congress has consistently undermined India’s traditions for six decades. He remarked:
“For 60 years, Congress worked to suppress the nation’s culture and beliefs. The Ram Mandir could only be built under a BJP government, and Article 370 was abrogated only when BJP came to power at the Centre.”
Vij added that while Congress allowed violence and bloodshed to continue, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government directly targeted terrorist camps in Pakistan, something he said was possible only for leaders shaped by RSS values.
Taking a sharp dig at Rahul Gandhi’s recent claim that PM Modi was “afraid because vote theft was exposed,” Vij questioned the Congress leader’s lineage.
“Who exactly is Rahul Gandhi? History shows he is the grandson of Feroze Ghandy, so by lineage he should be Rahul Ghandy, not Gandhi. Indira should have been Indira Ghandy. The family name was Ghandy – so when did they become Gandhi?”
Vij further alleged that the family changed its surname from “Ghandy” to “Gandhi” to exploit Mahatma Gandhi’s popularity.
“Rahul Gandhi is actually Rahul Ghandy. They stole Gandhi’s name to cash in on his popularity. Ironically, those who stole a caste and a name for political advantage are now crying about vote theft,” he remarked.
Concluding his remarks, Vij said that the people of India continue to teach lessons to the opposition and will keep doing so in the future.
