Haryana approves Rs 1.10 crore for disaster management

Chandigarh, May 9, 2025: The Haryana government has approved ₹1.10 crore for disaster management across the state, considering the current circumstances. Each Deputy Commissioner (DC) has been allocated ₹5 lakh to ensure swift and effective response during any disaster or emergency situation in their respective districts.
Major Step for Disaster Preparedness
Dr. Sumita Mishra, Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department and Financial Commissioner, Revenue and Disaster Management, informed that clear instructions have been issued to the DCs to use these funds exclusively for disaster management and immediate relief efforts. She emphasized the need to adhere strictly to financial discipline and ensure transparent and purposeful utilization of the sanctioned funds.
Ensuring Readiness
Dr. Mishra stated that this move reflects the Haryana government’s commitment to disaster preparedness. The advance allocation is aimed at ensuring there is no delay in relief and rescue operations during any unforeseen disaster.
Additionally, she clarified that any extra expenditure beyond this allocation will require prior government approval.To further strengthen disaster management, the state government will also organize special training programs and mock drills from time to time.
Government Guidelines and Planning
The Haryana government has directed all DCs to keep their disaster management plans updated and ensure the availability of all necessary resources at the district level.Special focus will be given to preparedness for floods, fires, earthquakes, and other natural disasters.
This decision has been taken to strengthen the state’s disaster management capabilities and ensure prompt action during any emergency situation.
