DIC to hold one-day to hold ‘District-Level Startup Workshop’ under TEJAS Initiative in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, May 5, 2026: General Manager, District Industries Centre, Deep Singh Gill informed that under the TEJAS Initiative - Transforming Entrepreneurial Journeys Across States and Districts - a one-day district-level workshop will be held at Shaheed Bhagat Singh State University on May 8, 2026 (Friday) at 10:00 AM in the CV Raman Hall, in collaboration with the District Industries Centre.
He stated that the Tejas Initiative—launched by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India—is aimed at strengthening the startup ecosystem and promoting grassroots innovation across 132 districts in the country.
The initiative focuses on identifying, nurturing, and supporting aspiring entrepreneurs, startups, and students, especially in non-metro and underdeveloped regions. It seeks to streamline access to institutional support, mentorship, and resources required for building and scaling enterprises.
The workshop is expected to witness participation from students, faculty members, aspiring entrepreneurs, and innovators from across the district. It will serve as a platform to create awareness about the Startup India programme and encourage DPIIT-recognised startup registrations in the region.
Gill highlighted that Ferozepur district holds significant potential for entrepreneurship in sectors such as agriculture and allied activities, food processing, small-scale manufacturing, and service-based enterprises. The workshop will provide insights into local opportunities and promote the development of sustainable and market-driven ventures.
The sessions will be conducted by representatives from Startup India and DPIIT, along with ecosystem partners. Key focus areas will include awareness about central and state government schemes, DPIIT startup recognition process, access to funding opportunities, market linkages, incubation support, and sector-specific entrepreneurial opportunities.
The initiative aligns with the Government of India’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat @2047, aiming to unlock entrepreneurial potential at the grassroots level and promote inclusive economic growth.
