Haryana committed to farmers' prosperity: Governor highlights major agricultural reforms
Rs 1.25 lakh crore transferred to farmers via MSP procurement in nine seasons

Chandigarh, March 7, 2025: Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatraya, in his address during the Budget session of the Vidhan Sabha, reaffirmed the state government's unwavering commitment to enhancing farmers’ economic well-being, ensuring agricultural profitability, and securing their welfare.
Key Achievements in Farmer Welfare:
- ₹1.25 lakh crore transferred directly to 12 lakh farmers for crop procurement at Minimum Support Price (MSP) via the e-Kharid portal over nine seasons.
- Haryana stands as the only state in India to procure all 24 crops at MSP.

- PM Kisan Samman Nidhi: ₹6,563 crore disbursed to 20.24 lakh farmers in Haryana.
- Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana: ₹8,732.76 crore paid to 34.57 lakh farmers as insurance claims.
- Compensation for crop losses: ₹4,872 crore provided over the last decade.
- First-ever Kharif sowing bonus: ₹1,345 crore distributed to farmers affected by delayed monsoons, offering ₹2,000 per acre.
Land Reforms and Policy Initiatives:
Abolition of ‘Abiyana’, a British-era water tax on farmers.
Implementation of the Agricultural Land Lease Act to resolve land possession and compensation issues.
Land ownership rights granted to farmers cultivating Shamlat land for 20+ years.
Boosting Horticulture and Organic Farming:
- Haryana is shifting focus towards horticulture as an alternative to traditional crops.
- Maharana Pratap Horticulture University in Karnal, backed by PM Narendra Modi, to lead agricultural research.
- 24,000 farmers registered for Natural Farming, with 9,910 practicing it on 15,170 acres.
- Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana protects farmers from market fluctuations.
- Mera Pani-Meri Virasat Scheme: ₹147.50 crore given to 1,28,605 farmers to encourage crop diversification.
