Panchkula (Haryana, March 7, 2025:An Indian Air Force (IAF) training aircraft crashed in the Morni Hills area of Haryana this afternoon. Fortunately, the pilot ejected in time and is safe.
According to IAF officials, the aircraft took off from Ambala Airbase for a routine training flight but developed a technical fault mid-air. Losing control, it crashed into the dense forests of Morni Hills. A swift response team from the Air Force and local administration reached the crash site immediately.
An IAF spokesperson confirmed that the pilot sustained no serious injuries and has been admitted to a hospital for a routine medical check-up. Meanwhile, the Defence Ministry has ordered a detailed inquiry, and a technical team is examining the wreckage to determine the exact cause of the crash.
Panchkula police and fire brigade teams promptly arrived at the scene to secure the area and prevent any fire or secondary incidents.
Defence experts note that similar incidents have occurred in the past due to aging aircraft. Calls for the modernization of the Air Force fleet have grown, with experts emphasizing the need for faster induction of advanced fighter jets.
The IAF has stated that the precise reason behind the crash will be determined after a thorough investigation. While no casualties have been reported, a detailed report is expected soon.
