Khatri Mahasabha Punjab demands formation of Khatri Welfare Board
Ferozepur, August 13, 2025: The Khatri Mahasabha Punjab has urged the state government to constitute a Khatri Welfare Board to address the long-pending demands of the community. Punjab State General Secretary Pawan Bhandari said the state has recently formed several caste-based welfare boards. With 3.6 million Khatris residing in Punjab, the community rightfully deserves its board.
Bhandari stated that the board’s primary purpose would be to resolve issues concerning the Khatri community. In return, the Mahasabha would extend its support to the Aam Aadmi Party government in future elections, including the anticipated 2027 polls.
Khatri Mahasabha leaders, including State General Secretary Pawan Bhandari, District President Lokesh Kakkar, General Secretary Surinder Berry, and Vice Chairman Tarsem Bedi, appealed to the Punjab government to establish the board at the earliest. All office-bearers of the Mahasabha were present during the announcement.
