MP Amritpal Singh produced before Amritsar court via video conferencing

Amritsar (Punjab), May 2, 2026: Member of Parliament Amritpal Singh, currently lodged in Dibrugarh Jail, Assam, was produced before an Amritsar court today through video conferencing in connection with an ongoing case.
During the hearing, his counsel, Advocate Rituraj Singh, strongly objected to the chargesheet, terming it “baseless” and sought additional time to examine the documents and file detailed objections.
The court has fixed the next hearing for Tuesday, which will again be conducted via video conferencing.
Meanwhile, the defence has indicated that it is also exploring the option of approaching the Punjab and Haryana High Court to seek Amritpal Singh’s transfer to Punjab for the purpose of trial proceedings.
