PBA unveils “Mayank Running Trophy” to motivate young badminton players
Ferozepur, May 2, 2026: In a deeply emotional and proud moment for the badminton fraternity of Punjab, the Punjab Badminton Association unveiled the prestigious “Mayank Running Trophy” during the Opening Ceremony of the Punjab State Sub-Junior Ranking Tournament held at the iconic Raizada Hansraj Stadium, Jalandhar.
The Trophy was unveiled by Amritpal Singh Sukhanand, President, Punjab Badminton Association, in the gracious presence of Mayank’s father Deepak Sharma, members of Mayank Foundation, distinguished guests, players, coaches, and members of the badminton fraternity from across Punjab.
Informing the media, Ritin Khanna, Honorary Secretary, Punjab Badminton Association, shared that the running trophy has been instituted in loving memory of Mayank Sharma, a young badminton player from Ferozepur whose passion, dedication, and cheerful spirit continue to inspire countless lives even today.
The beautifully designed trophy carries a heartfelt tribute describing Mayank’s journey, his love for badminton, and the noble work being carried forward through the Mayank Foundation in the fields of Road Safety, Education, Environment, and Sports.
The “Mayank Running Trophy” will be awarded annually to the Punjab Champion in Boys’ Singles Under-15 Category, ensuring that Mayank’s legacy continues to motivate young badminton players for generations to come.
Speaking on the occasion, members of the badminton fraternity appreciated this meaningful initiative and expressed that the trophy is not just an award, but a symbol of inspiration, sportsmanship, and everlasting memories.
