Centre Promotes 10 AGMUT IPS Officers to IGP Rank

New Delhi, December 19, 2025:
The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has promoted 10 IPS officers of the AGMUT cadre (Arunachal Pradesh–Goa–Mizoram and Union Territories) to the rank of Inspector General of Police (IGP).
According to an official order issued by the MHA on December 19, 2025, the promotions have been granted following the recommendations of the Screening Committee, which met on December 8, 2025. The officers have been promoted to the IGP grade (Level 14 in the Pay Matrix) with effect from January 1, 2026, or from the date they assume charge, whichever is later.
IPS Officers Promoted on Regular Basis
The following four IPS officers of the 2008 batch have been promoted while currently posted in the AGMUT cadre:

IPS Officers Granted Proforma Promotion
In addition, six IPS officers of the 2008 batch, presently on Central Deputation, have been granted proforma promotion to the IGP rank. Their promotions will take effect on an actual basis from the date their immediate juniors assume charge in the cadre:
