New Delhi, June 4, 2026: In a significant political development, Union Minister of State Ravneet Singh Bittu has not been renominated for the Rajya Sabha in the Bharatiya Janata Party’s latest list of candidates for the 2026 elections.
The BJP announced its latest slate of nominees for multiple states, including Arunachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, and Rajasthan, finalising several key names for the Upper House.
From Rajasthan, the party has fielded Alka Gurjar and Satish Poonia, while from Madhya Pradesh, Tarun Chugh and Rajneesh Agrawal have been named as candidates. Other prominent nominations include Tai Tagak from Arunachal Pradesh, Rajubhai Shukla, Mukeshbhai Rathwa and Mansingh Parmar from Gujarat, and A. Sharda Devi from Manipur.
The absence of Ravneet Singh Bittu’s name from the Rajasthan list has drawn political attention, marking a notable shift in the party’s parliamentary representation strategy. Bittu, a prominent Sikh leader and Union Minister of State, was earlier being seen as a key face for the Upper House from the state.
Party sources indicated that the decision is part of a broader organisational reshuffle and candidate realignment ahead of the Rajya Sabha elections. However, no official clarification has been issued on his next political assignment.
Meanwhile, the inclusion of senior BJP leader Tarun Chugh from Punjab as a candidate from Madhya Pradesh has also drawn attention within political circles, as the party continues to balance regional representation with organisational roles.
The BJP is expected to complete remaining nominations after further internal consultations.
