Procurement and lifting of wheat is going on smoothly in the mandis of the district. This information was shared by Deputy Commissioner Mr. Showkat Ahmad Parray while chairing a meeting with the officials regarding arrangements for procurement.
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner gave necessary directions to the officials to expedite the ongoing procurement and lifting of wheat in the district.
The Deputy Commissioner said that there should not be any problem in drinking water, sanitation and other necessary arrangements in the mandis for the farmers. He also told the officials that no laxity or negligence would be tolerated during the procurement of wheat.
He said that till 29th April 2025, 744637.50 MT wheat has arrived in various grain markets of the district, out of which 702732 MT wheat has been procured by various procurement agencies. In addition, Rs. 1493.88 crore has been paid to farmers for wheat.
Giving further details, District Food and Supplies Controller Dr. Ravinder Kaur said that till 29th April, 220471 MT wheat was procured by PUNGRAIN, 149748 by Markfed, 160495 by PUNSUP, 117998 by Warehouse and 54020 MT by private traders
