Swadeshi Jagran Manch builds public trust; 20-30% growth in business in Ferozepur

Ferozepur, February 17, 2026: Swadeshi Jagran Manch has been consistently organising awareness programmes in markets, educational institutions and among women’s groups in Ferozepur district for the past three years, to promote indigenous products and strengthen the local economy. Through a combination of trade sensitisation and social service, the Manch has gradually built strong public trust.
Since 2024, the Manch has been running a sustained campaign encouraging the use of Swadeshi products. Being a border district, Ferozepur has long faced economic and social challenges. Local traders and small entrepreneurs have been adversely affected by the dominance of multinational brands, online shopping platforms, and changing consumer behaviour. In this backdrop, the Swadeshi Jagran Manch drew inspiration from the ideology of Swami Vivekananda and decided to raise awareness of self-reliance and national duty through economic choices.
Manch representatives explained that choosing Swadeshi is not merely an economic decision but a national responsibility. When consumers buy locally manufactured goods, the direct beneficiaries are small shopkeepers, artisans and micro-industries. Over the last three years, the Manch organised door-to-door campaigns, street meetings, and awareness rallies in markets and residential areas, explaining how dependence on foreign goods weakens local trade.
Special awareness drives were also conducted among women, who play a key role in household purchasing decisions. The Manch highlighted how prioritising Indian products can strengthen families and the national economy. Alongside this, the organisation actively participated in social service, particularly during the COVID-19 period, by organising health camps, distributing essential medicines, and supporting elderly and needy persons.
The Manch also raised concerns over the growing influence of multinational e-commerce and quick-commerce platforms such as Amazon and Blinkit, urging consumers to support neighbourhood markets instead.
According to Manch leaders, these sustained efforts have resulted in a visible impact, with local traders reporting a 20 to 30 per cent increase in business due to rising public awareness. The organisation believes that if consumers give priority to Swadeshi products, local markets can regain their strength, and economic self-reliance can be achieved at the grassroots level.
