New Delhi, February 28, 2026:
The United States and Israel have launched a joint military operation against Iran, dramatically escalating tensions in the Middle East. US President Donald Trump confirmed that “major combat operations” are currently under way, as the conflict entered a critical phase on Tuesday.
In swift retaliation, Iran launched a barrage of missiles targeting US military bases and Israeli positions in the region. Reports of explosions have emerged from parts of the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia, triggering widespread security alerts across the Gulf region.
Amid the escalating hostilities, the UK Foreign Office issued an urgent advisory for British nationals in the region to seek immediate shelter. In a statement, it said:
“Due to reported missile attacks, British nationals in Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates should immediately shelter in place. Remain indoors in a secure location, avoid all travel and follow instructions from the local authorities.”
The situation remains highly volatile, with fears of a broader regional conflict growing as military exchanges continue between Iran and the US–Israel alliance. Global powers are closely monitoring developments, while diplomatic channels are reportedly being activated to prevent further escalation.
