Krantikari Kisan Union expands state panel, backs March 6, 10 mega rallies

Moga (Punjab, February 28, 2026: The Krantikari Kisan Union held its extended state-level meeting under the leadership of State President Dr Darshanpal, where key farmers’ issues were discussed in detail and the state committee was unanimously expanded.
As per the new structure, Dr Darshanpal will continue as State President, while Avtar Singh Mehma has been appointed Senior Vice President. Rajgurvinder Singh Batala and Harnek Singh Bhallamajra will serve as Vice Presidents. Gurmeet Singh Mehma has been named General Secretary, Dalwinder Singh Sherkhan as Joint Secretary, Ranjit Singh Chanarthal as Treasurer, and Harinder Singh Chanarthal as Press Secretary.
Addressing mediapersons, the leaders announced that the union will actively participate in a massive rally to be held on March 6 outside the DC Office in Bathinda to protest against the alleged excesses by Bathinda Police in village Jiod. The organization pledged strong mobilisation for the demonstration.
Furthermore, the union declared that thousands of farmers will join the March 10 rally in Barnala, called by the Samyukt Kisan Morcha. The rally is being organised to oppose the proposed free trade agreement with the United States, the Electricity Amendment Bill, the Seed Bill, and the reported move to abolish the MGNREGA Act.
Several farmer leaders, including Kashmir Singh Bheka, Karamjit Singh Langeana, Dilbagh Singh Sursinghwala, Mandeep Singh Kabarwala, Attarpreet Brar, Balwinder Singh Dhudkot, Sukhdev Singh Babbi Brar, Mehma Singh Dhannola, Ranjit Singh Grewal, Bhajan Singh Ghuman, Sukhdev Singh Haryau, Avtar Singh Mohali, Nachhattar Singh Hamirgarh, Gurditt Singh Gummti Kalan, and Parmjit Singh Baupur, were present at the meeting along with hundreds of activists.
