Chandigarh, March 28, 2021:
Taking serious note of the recent attack on BJP MLA in Malout, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh today directed the state police and DCs and SSPs to tighten the security of BJP workers and provide full protection to them during their programmes.
Through his fresh order, circulated through Home Department , it has been conveyed that Punjab CM had taken a very serious view of the unfortunate incident involving the assault by a mob of protestors on Abohar MLA, Arun Narang in Malout as well as police officers who had been deployed for his safety. The CM also directed the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSPs) of all the districts to personally ensure that such incidents do not happen anywhere in the future.
The orders of the Department of Home Affairs and Justice issued by the CM reads, " In view of the extremely surcharged atmosphere, when such BJP programs are scheduled, DCs, CPs, and SSPs of the respective districts must ensure the maintenance of Public Order and communal harmony and ensure the safety and security of visiting BJP leaders. Also, additional police personnel of the IRB/PAP/Commandos may be sought wherever in need."
The reaction of Captain Amarinder Singh came a day after Arun Narang was thrashed by the farmers in Malout.
