BJP Alleges Bogus Voting by AAP Leaders in Amloh, Files Complaint with State Election Commission
Chandigarh, December 21, 2024: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Punjab has filed a formal complaint with the Punjab State Election Commissioner, alleging bogus voting and violence involving Mani Warring, the brother of AAP MLA Garry Warring, along with other AAP leaders and supporters. The incident reportedly occurred in Ward No. 9 of Amloh, Fatehgarh Sahib, during the ongoing Municipal Corporation elections.
In their letter, the BJP accused Mani Warring and AAP supporters of engaging in fraudulent voting activities, with alleged assistance from local police. The BJP also claimed that their workers and local residents were assaulted during the incident.
The complaint stated:
"Mani Warring, brother of Garry Warring, MLA of the AAP Party, along with other AAP leaders and supporters, cast bogus votes in Ward No. 9 at Amloh, Fatehgarh Sahib. The local police supported their actions and even assaulted BJP workers and area residents. This is a blatant violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) and punishable under the law."
The BJP has demanded that an FIR be registered against Mani Warring, other AAP leaders and supporters involved, and the local police officials allegedly complicit in the incident. The party also called for strict legal action under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Representation of the People Act, and for violations of the MCC.
This development adds to the growing tensions between the political parties during the elections. The BJP has urged the Election Commission to ensure impartiality and take immediate steps to prevent such incidents, safeguarding the integrity of the electoral process.
The Aam Aadmi Party has not yet issued a response to the allegations. Meanwhile, the State Election Commission is expected to review the complaint and decide on further action.
The Municipal Corporation elections in Punjab are being closely monitored, with incidents like these raising questions about the conduct and transparency of the polls.
