Monsoon set to break records! IMD predicts heavy rains across North India

Chandigarh, June 19, 2025 — The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a significant update regarding the monsoon, forecasting light to moderate rainfall accompanied by strong winds in several districts of Delhi and Punjab over the coming days.
According to the IMD, the southwest monsoon is expected to reach Punjab by June 25, bringing much-needed relief from the heat. The recent showers have already caused a noticeable dip in temperatures across the region.Experts suggest that rainfall in June could surpass previous records, indicating an intense monsoon season ahead.
The monsoon has regained momentum this week and is likely to cover most parts of northwestern India, including Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh, by June 25, the IMD said.
With weather patterns rapidly shifting, residents are advised to stay updated with local forecasts and prepare for heavy showers in the coming days.
