Chandigarh, July 7, 2025: Senior Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia reportedly spent a restless first night in jail following his recent arrest, with sources revealing that he complained of high blood pressure and demanded air-conditioning and a bed early the next morning.
According to sources, Majithia’s blood pressure shot up to over 160 upon his arrival at the jail. Unable to sleep through the night, he is said to have requested special facilities including an AC and a proper bed in the morning.
However, the government has made it clear that Majithia will not receive any VIP treatment in jail. Officials stated that he will be given the same food and facilities as any other prisoner. This means no special privileges — including no bed — and he will be required to sleep on the floor like all other inmates.
The administration also emphasized that, unlike previous regimes where select prisoners were allegedly given preferential treatment, the current government follows uniform rules for all, regardless of political stature.
In view of security concerns, Majithia’s barrack has been placed under 24x7 CCTV surveillance to ensure constant monitoring.
