Amritsar (Punjab), August 2, 2025: Emphasizing unity and mutual respect within the Sikh Panth, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) President Harmeet Singh Kalka has made an emotional appeal to Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Harjinder Singh Dhami, urging joint commemoration of the 350th Shaheedi Diwas of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji in Delhi.
In a heartfelt letter, Kalka invoked the spirit of brotherhood, requesting that DSGMC and SGPC come together “as elder and younger brothers” to organize the historic event.
"With full humility, I request you to bless this initiative by joining hands with DSGMC. Let us commemorate this Shaheedi Diwas jointly in Delhi. We will extend full respect and cooperation, fulfilling our duty as the younger brother," Kalka wrote.
DSGMC is already planning large-scale Gurmat samagams across the capital, and Kalka’s invitation is seen as a symbolic gesture aimed at bridging long-standing institutional divides between the two influential Sikh bodies.
The “elder-younger brother” stance taken by DSGMC marks a conciliatory tone in Panthic politics, suggesting a desire to move beyond past tensions and present a united front for the Sikh community on an occasion of great spiritual and historical significance.
