Dhuri (Sangrur), August 10, 2025 – Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, during a visit to his Dhuri constituency on Sunday, issued a strong warning to drug smugglers, declaring that political influence will no longer shield them from the law. Without naming him directly, his remarks were widely seen as a sharp dig at senior Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia.
“If anyone pushes the youth of Punjab towards drugs, they will not be spared. If there is evidence, they will be sent straight to jail,” Mann said, adding with a sarcastic jab, “They will get the same facilities as other prisoners – no pizza, burgers, or garlic bread. If someone wants to know the menu, they can visit Nabha jail and ask.”
The Chief Minister also announced development works worth ₹17.21 crore for Dhuri, including two 18-foot-wide roads in village Dhadhogal. He paid tribute to Shaheed Sardar Bhagat Singh Dhadgal on his 87th death anniversary, announcing that a road will be named after him.
Mann further revealed that the state will mark the 350th martyrdom day of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji with a march from Srinagar to Chandni Chowk. He urged opposition parties to “stop distributing certificates of patriotism.”
