Amritsar (Punjab), August 11, 2025: In his first speech after being elected president of the newly formed Akali Dal, Giani Harpreet Singh sharply criticized the Punjab government’s new Land Pooling Policy, calling it “extremely dangerous” and a “conspiracy to change the demography of Punjab.”
Addressing the gathering, Singh said, “This policy is not aimed at developing Punjab’s lands but is a hidden plan to destroy the identity and population of Punjab. Fertile lands are being taken away and handed over to outsiders. Our population is declining, and this policy encourages non-Punjabis to settle here, threatening our very existence.”
He also targeted the Shiromani Akali Dal, accusing its leadership of neglecting Punjab’s interests. Singh added, “The president who has been ‘sleeping’ with you, bringing these governments, should remember that this mafia’s aim is to harm Punjab, not beautify it.”
Giani Harpreet Singh’s election as president marks a new phase in the recruitment committee’s efforts to resist policies perceived as harmful to Punjab’s farmers and demography.
