  Breaking: Punjab moves Supreme Court to retain 1,158 Assistant Professors, Librarians in Govt Colleges

  New Delhi, August 11, 2025: Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains on Monday said the state government has approached the Supreme Court seeking a modification of its July 14, 2025 orders.
  
  The plea requests that 1,158 Assistant Professors and Librarians be allowed to continue in their posts, at least temporarily, in the interest of students in government colleges.
  
  Bains said the move aims to ensure that the academic functioning of colleges is not disrupted. He added that the state government is also exploring all other possible legal remedies to safeguard the positions and maintain educational continuity.
