Iqbal Singh Joins Shiromani Akali Dal Faction Led by Giani Harpreet Singh
Chandigarh, August 14, 2025: Aam Aadmi Party leader Iqbal Singh has formally joined the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) faction under the leadership of Party President Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh. This move marks a significant development in Punjab’s political landscape as the breakaway SAD faction consolidates its leadership and outreach.
Under the guidance of Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh, who was unanimously elected as president of this SAD faction by the Akal Takht-appointed committee, the party is working to revive the original ethos of the Akali Dal established in 1920. Sardar Iqbal Singh’s inclusion is seen as a step toward strengthening the regional party’s base ahead of upcoming political contests.
