Shimla (Himachal Pradesh), August 26, 2025 – Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said the state is going through a very difficult time due to continuous heavy rainfall in recent days, which has badly disrupted normal life.
He said rivers and streams, including the Beas, are in spate, and reports of widespread damage from landslides and flash floods in several areas, particularly Kullu-Manali, are deeply distressing.
The Chief Minister informed that the administration has been put on high alert. As a precautionary measure, schools in several districts have been closed to ensure the safety of children.
Appealing to the public, Sukhu urged people to strictly follow government advisories and avoid venturing near rivers, streams, and other risky locations. He assured that state government teams are working with full commitment on relief and rescue operations, stressing that the safety and well-being of citizens remain the top priority.
“This is a testing time for our state,” the Chief Minister said, adding, “but with unity, prayers, compassion, and caution, we will overcome this disaster together.”
