Chandigarh, August 28, 2025:
In a push to expand e-Governance and make urban services more citizen-friendly, the Punjab government is set to launch eight new digital services under the Local Government Department.
Local Government Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh said the new facilities will include:
-
Online pet licensing for city residents,
-
A digital platform for rent and lease agreements,
-
Online approvals for advertisements and hoardings,
-
E-challan system for traffic and related violations, and
-
Online payment of garbage collection fees.
He said automation and digitization would cut down processing time, improve efficiency, and offer real-time tracking for citizens. “Punjab has already emerged as a leader in e-Governance. With these services, we aim to set a new benchmark in urban administration by making access more convenient and transparent,” Singh said.
The minister added that the reforms will allow government staff to focus on priority tasks while ensuring citizens get faster, hassle-free services. The initiative, he said, reflects the government’s commitment to innovation and effective governance.
Officials are confident the new services will streamline urban administration and serve as a model for other states.
