Northern Railway runs special trains to evacuate stranded passengers from Jammu amid floods

Jammu, August 29, 2025: In view of heavy rainfall and floods disrupting rail traffic in the Jammu region, Northern Railway has operated two special trains from Jammu Tawi on Thursday to safely transport stranded passengers to their destinations. The first special train carried around 1,400 passengers from Jammu Tawi to Varanasi, while the second transported nearly 1,200 passengers to New Delhi.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Paramdeep Singh Saini stated that the railway administration prioritizes the safety and convenience of passengers and remains committed to extending full support even in disaster situations.
To ensure comfort during the journey, special arrangements for food and refreshments were made at Jalandhar Cantt and Ludhiana railway stations with the cooperation of commercial inspectors, station staff, ticket checking teams, and catering staff of the Ferozepur Division.
Saini added that under this special arrangement, the safety and convenience of passengers were given the highest priority.
