Chandigarh, September 1 – Popular Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh has stepped forward in a big way to support Punjab during its flood crisis. Through his Saanjh Foundation, he has adopted 10 highly affected villages in Gurdaspur and Amritsar districts, working in collaboration with other NGOs and the local administration.

The Saanjh Foundation has announced a three-phase plan to help flood-hit families:
- Phase 1: Immediate Relief – Distribution of medicines, solar lights, and tarpaulins. Drinking water and hot meals are already being provided locally, with villagers showing solidarity through community langars.
- Phase 2: After Waters Recede – On-ground assessments will be carried out to identify families most affected. Rehabilitation planning will begin in coordination with NGOs and the administration.
- Phase 3: Long-Term Rebuilding – Structured programs for rebuilding homes, restoring livelihoods, and supporting livestock. The foundation will continue to partner with local authorities for sustainable rehabilitation.
Villagers Show Resilience
Despite the devastation, affected villages have shown remarkable spirit, managing food through langars set up outside most areas. Officials note there is no immediate need for ration or water supplies, as local communities are actively supporting one another.
By adopting 10 villages and committing to long-term rebuilding, Diljit Dosanjh and Saanjh Foundation are setting a strong example of community-driven relief. “Together, we can rebuild,” the foundation said in its statement.
