Mohali MLA Kulwant Singh flags off relief convoy for flood‑hit families; urges PM to release next tranche of aid
SAS Nagar (Mohali), September 18, 2025:
MLA Kulwant Singh on Thursday flagged off vehicles carrying 500 cots, mattresses, pillows, and quilts for flood‑affected families from his Sector‑79 office, calling coordinated relief “a collective responsibility.”
Singh said nearly 2,300 villages and about 5 lakh acres in Punjab have been inundated, inflicting heavy losses on agriculture and livestock, while praising Punjabis in India and abroad for sending need‑based aid. He added that his team is dispatching supplies strictly as per nodal officers’ requisitions and that consignments will continue in the coming days.
Appealing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to release the next instalment of the flood grant at the earliest, Singh said complete rehabilitation demands additional financial support. He noted Punjab’s longstanding contribution to the national foodgrain pool and urged the nation to stand by the state in this crisis.
The MLA has previously sent multiple consignments of relief material from his Sector‑79 office. Among those present were Kuldeep Singh Samana, Parmjeet Singh Chauhan, Phoolraj Singh, RP Sharma, Sarpanch Gurjant Singh (Bhago Majra), Harmesh Singh Kumbra, Harpal Singh Channa, Gurpal Singh Grewal, Dr Kuldeep Singh, Panch Gurpreet Singh (Bariali), Sarpanch Rajinder Singh Raju (Badmajra), Gurpreet Singh Kurara and others.
