Ferozepur talent Sunil Kataria to feature in Netflix’s ‘Kohrra’ Season 2
FEROZEPUR, February 9, 2026: The border town of Ferozepur continues to make its mark on the global map as local talent Sunil Kataria prepares for his upcoming appearance in the second season of the critically acclaimed Netflix crime thriller, Kohrra. Set to premiere on February 11, the series will be accessible to a global audience in Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil, and Telugu, accompanied by English subtitles.
Sunil Kataria, who has often cited Ferozepur as his primary inspiration and the source of his work ethic, is no stranger to the limelight. His journey in the world of cinema began gaining significant momentum in 2014 with his 41-second micro-film, Honesty Is the Best Policy, which earned international recognition at festivals across Australia, Canada, and India.
His directorial prowess was further cemented in 2016 when he served as a co-director for Google’s ambitious documentary India in a Day. Working alongside cinematic titans such as Ridley Scott, Anurag Kashyap, and Richie Mehta, the project was showcased at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
Beyond acting, Kataria’s technical contributions include serving as an assistant director and producer for the BBC’s 2019 virtual reality film Hand in Hand. The project, centred on the spiritual essence of the Kumbh Mela, received widespread acclaim for its innovative 360-degree storytelling. On the silver screen, Kataria has previously delivered notable performances in Punjabi films such as Desi Munde (2016) and the 2025 release Mehar.
In 2025, Kataria’s contributions to the arts were formally recognised by the Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh, Gulab Chand Kataria. He has also received accolades from the Punjab Government and Punjabi University, Patiala, marking him as a significant cultural ambassador for the region.
The upcoming season of Kohrra—a title meaning "Fog"—continues to explore the grit and complexity of the Punjab Police. Directed by Sudip Sharma and Faisal Rahman, the story is penned by the writing trio of Gunjit Chopra, Diggi Sisodia, and Sudip Sharma. Following the massive success of the first season in 2023, the new instalment is one of the most anticipated releases of the year.
As Kataria prepares for this major Netflix debut, he remains grounded in his roots, stating that Ferozepur remains his "first love" and the foundation of his dedication to the craft.
