Int’l Women’s’ Day celebrated at Central Jail; women inmates participate in cultural activities
Ferozepur, March 9, 2026: International Women’s Day was celebrated at Central Jail Ferozepur by the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) under the directions of the Punjab State Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar (Mohali).
The programme was organized under the guidance of Sumit Malhotra, District and Sessions Judge–cum–Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Ferozepur. On the occasion, Anuradha, Chief Judicial Magistrate–cum–Secretary, DLSA Ferozepur, attended the event along with women panel advocates of the authority.
The event was also attended by the Jail Superintendent, Deputy Jail Superintendent and other staff of the Central Jail Ferozepur.
On the occasion of International Women’s Day, women inmates actively participated in games, traditional Giddha and boliyan. Women prisoners who secured first and second positions in the games were honoured during the programme.
Addressing the gathering, the judicial officers highlighted the importance of the day and shared information about women empowerment. Panel advocate Konika Yadav also informed the inmates about women’s rights and the legal facilities available to them.
The programme aimed to spread awareness among women inmates about their legal rights and encourage confidence and empowerment among them.
