Shivraj Singh Chouhan orders crop damage assessment after rains, hailstorms; Assures support to farmers

New Delhi, April 6, 2026: Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has taken cognisance of heavy rainfall and hailstorms reported in several states and directed officials to carry out an immediate assessment of crop damage.
The minister assured farmers that there is no need to panic, emphasizing that the government stands firmly with them during this challenging time.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Chouhan has instructed officials to closely review the impact of unseasonal rains and gather detailed reports from affected states. He also directed them to maintain close coordination with state authorities to monitor the evolving situation.
The ministry further stated that the Union Minister will hold discussions with Agriculture Ministers of the concerned states to assess the extent of losses and take necessary steps to address the situation and support farmers.
