Chandigarh, April 10, 2026: In a major child welfare initiative, the Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Punjab Government has empanelled 42 Special Educators, one Sign Language Interpreter, and 48 Translators to address communication barriers faced by children with special needs.
Sharing details, Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur said that many children struggle to express their emotions and concerns, which affects their care and rehabilitation.
The newly empanelled experts will help bridge this gap by enabling better communication between children and Child Welfare Authorities.
She added that the initiative aims to create a more child-friendly environment by providing counselling support, speeding up rehabilitation processes, and facilitating the reintegration of children with their families or guardians.
The minister emphasised that the move will strengthen the overall support system for children requiring special care and protection, ensuring their emotional needs are better understood and addressed.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment, Dr. Baljit Kaur said the initiative reflects a continued focus on safeguarding children’s rights while providing them with a supportive and dignified environment for growth.
