Amritsar Police arrest accused involved in sending bomb hoax emails: Gurpreet Bhullar

Amritsar, May 21, 2026: Amritsar Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar disclosed that in a significant breakthrough, Commissionerate Police Amritsar has uncovered a network involved in the circulation and misuse of threatening bomb hoax emails being sent to schools and other sensitive locations across the country.
During the operation, the main accused, Sourav Biswas alias Michael, was arrested. Investigation revealed that the accused was engaged in the buying and selling of email accounts through various Facebook groups. Around 300 Gmail accounts were procured, out of which 219 accounts were sold to a Bangladesh-based individual. These accounts were subsequently supplied to unidentified Pakistan-based persons, who allegedly used them for sending bomb threat emails and carrying out other illegal cyber activities.
During the operation, police recovered 03 CPUs, 05 computer hard disks, 03 mobile phones, 01 internet router, details of over 300 Gmail IDs along with passwords and recovery information, and 15 Hotmail accounts.
In this regard, separate cases have been registered at PS Cyber Crime and further investigation is underway.
