In a important step towards ensuring the successful implementation of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) activities across Haryana, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Haryana, A. Sreenivas, IAS, visited Panchkula district on Tuesday to oversee the progress of field-level electoral verification work being carried out by Booth Level Officers (BLOs).
During his visit, A. Sreenivas personally inspected various polling areas and reviewed the door-to-door verification activities being undertaken by BLOs as part of the pre-draft phase of the Special Intensive Revision. He interacted with BLOs, supervisors and election officials engaged in the revision process and assessed the quality, accuracy and pace of the field work.
The Chief Electoral Officer emphasized that the preparation of an accurate, inclusive and error-free electoral roll forms the cornerstone of a healthy democratic system. He stated that BLOs play a vital role in maintaining the integrity of the electoral process by ensuring that every eligible citizen is included in the voter list while removing ineligible entries in accordance with the prescribed procedures.
Sreenivas closely examined the records being maintained by BLOs and reviewed the methodology adopted for house-to-house verification. He directed officials to ensure that no eligible voter is left out of the electoral roll and that special attention is given to newly eligible voters, women, senior citizens, persons with disabilities and other vulnerable sections of society.
While interacting with the field functionaries, the CEO appreciated their dedication and commitment towards carrying out the extensive verification exercise. He encouraged them to maintain the highest standards of transparency, accuracy and impartiality during the revision process.
The Chief Electoral Officer also stressed the importance of extensive voter awareness and public participation in the SIR exercise. He instructed district election officials to undertake widespread awareness campaigns so that citizens are informed about the ongoing revision activities and cooperate with BLOs during the verification process.
Reviewing the preparedness of the district administration, Sreenivas directed all election officials to adhere strictly to the timelines prescribed by the Election Commission and ensure seamless coordination at every level.
He reiterated that the objective of the Special Intensive Revision is to provide every eligible voter an opportunity to participate in the democratic process through a clean and updated electoral roll.
Senior officers of the district administration, election officials, Electoral Registration Officers, Assistant Electoral Registration Officers and supervisory staff accompanied the Chief Electoral Officer during the field visit.
Detailed discussions were held regarding the implementation of SIR activities, monitoring mechanisms and measures to address challenges faced during field verification.
The visit reflects the Election Commission's commitment towards strengthening electoral processes through continuous monitoring and ground-level supervision.
The Chief Electoral Officer expressed confidence that with the dedicated efforts of the district administration and field officials, Panchkula district would successfully complete the SIR exercise in a timely and efficient manner.
