CBI arrests MES Engineers in Manali while allegedly accepting Rs 93,000 bribe

Manali (Himachal Pradesh), July 4, 2026: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Military Engineering Services (MES) engineer in Himachal Pradesh’s Manali for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹93,000 from a contractor.
According to reports, the accused, identified as K.K. Soni, was posted as Assistant Garrison Engineer (Civil) in the MES at Manali.
The CBI’s Shimla unit allegedly caught the engineer red-handed during a trap operation after receiving a complaint that he had demanded a bribe to release payment of a contractor’s pending bill.
Acting on the complaint, the agency laid a trap and apprehended the accused while he was allegedly accepting ₹93,000 from the complainant.
A case has been registered against the accused, and further investigation is underway.
The CBI is also expected to examine the engineer’s official conduct and other works handled during his tenure to ascertain whether any additional irregularities or instances of corruption are linked to the case.
