Ferozepur police return 120 traced mobiles worth Rs 30 lakh, total recoveries reach 459
SSP appeals to public to promptly report lost or stolen mobiles, avoid phones of doubtful origin
Ferozepur, September 22, 2026: The Ferozepur District Police on Tuesday returned 120 lost, stolen and snatched mobile phones to their rightful owners after successfully tracing and recovering them through sustained efforts by the Special Branch, IT Cell and police teams.
Addressing a press conference, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bhupinder Singh Sidhu said the recovered mobile phones, collectively valued at around Rs 30 lakh, were handed over to their original owners after proper verification.
SSP said the recovery was made possible through the dedicated efforts of the Special Branch and IT Cell, with support from police officers, including SHOs, who worked on complaints and cases relating to missing, stolen and snatched mobile phones. The phones were traced using technical investigation and available digital tracking mechanisms.
He said the latest recovery of 120 mobile phones was part of a continuing drive by the district police to trace missing and stolen devices and return them to their rightful owners.
SSP further said that in earlier recovery drives, 117, 92 and 130 mobile phones had been returned to their owners. With the latest recovery of 120 phones, the total number of mobile phones recovered and returned to their rightful owners has reached 459 in recent months.
The SSP said several of the recovered phones were linked to cases registered with the police, while others had been reported missing or lost. The police teams worked continuously to trace the devices and establish their rightful ownership before handing them over.
He added that investigation was also being conducted into cases where stolen mobile phones were allegedly purchased knowingly by certain persons. Action would be taken against shopkeepers or other persons found to have knowingly dealt in stolen mobile phones, as per law.
SSP appreciated the efforts of the Special Branch, IT Cell and field police teams for their coordinated work in tracing the missing and stolen mobile phones and ensuring their return to the rightful owners.
SSP Bhupinder Singh Sidhu said that people earn money through hard work to purchase mobile phones, and their theft or loss causes not only financial loss but also the loss of important data and contacts. He said that when the police successfully recover such phones and return them to their rightful owners, the happiness and relief on their faces is truly gratifying.
The recipients, upon receiving their mobile phones back, expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Ferozepur Police, particularly SSP Bhupinder Singh Sidhu, and appreciated the police initiative and dedicated efforts in tracing and recovering the missing and stolen devices.
The police appealed to citizens to promptly report lost or stolen mobile phones so that necessary technical and legal action could be initiated for their recovery.
