Haryana CM Saini thanks PM Modi for hike in Rabi Crop MSP for 2027-28

Chandigarh, September 30, 2026: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Wednesday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Central Government for increasing the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of all six mandated Rabi crops for the 2027-28 marketing season.
The increase was approved by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Saini said the decision would strengthen farmers’ incomes and ensure remunerative prices for their produce.
The highest increase has been announced for safflower at Rs 675 per quintal, followed by Rs 413 per quintal for rapeseed and mustard and Rs 390 per quintal for lentil (masur). MSP for barley has been increased by Rs 136 per quintal, gram by Rs 83 and wheat by Rs 25.
Under the revised rates, the MSP for wheat has been fixed at Rs 2,610 per quintal, barley at Rs 2,286, gram at Rs 5,958, lentil at Rs 7,390, rapeseed and mustard at Rs 6,613 and safflower at Rs 7,215 for the 2027-28 marketing season.
Saini said the decision was in line with the Union Budget 2018-19 commitment to fix MSP at a minimum of 1.5 times the all-India weighted average cost of production.
According to the government, the expected margin over the all-India weighted average cost of production is 106 per cent for wheat, 96 per cent for rapeseed and mustard, 92 per cent for lentil, 59 per cent for gram, 58 per cent for barley and 50 per cent for safflower.
The Chief Minister said higher MSPs for pulses and oilseeds in recent years would also encourage crop diversification alongside improving farmers’ returns.
He expressed confidence that Haryana’s farmers would benefit from the revised MSPs and contribute to strengthening the country’s food reserves.
