Chandigarh, October 12, 2026: BJP Punjab president Kewal Singh Dhillon has questioned the reported circulation of a poster promoting a protest by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) on the official WhatsApp channel of the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB), alleging that government communication platforms were being used for political purposes.
In a statement, Dhillon said the poster, which promoted a protest in Delhi against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, was reportedly shared on the channel on Saturday. He said the poster also featured a photograph of CJP founder Abhijit Deepke.
The PSEB WhatsApp channel has approximately 4.48 lakh followers, according to Dhillon, who questioned how political content had reportedly appeared on a platform intended to serve students, teachers and parents.
He sought answers from Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the state Education Minister and the Aam Aadmi Party’s national convenor, asking who had authorised the circulation of the poster and whether any mechanism was in place to scrutinise content shared through official channels.
Four Political Demands Listed on Poster
According to Dhillon, the poster listed four demands: halting upcoming elections and restoring the electoral rolls of January 2025; repealing the 2023 law governing the appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner and enacting a new law; seeking the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar; and immediately stopping the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process and constituting an inquiry committee.
Questioning the relevance of these demands to school education, Dhillon asked what political protests against the Election Commission had to do with the Education Department’s responsibilities.
He also questioned whether political material was being shared without adequate verification and demanded an impartial inquiry to establish how the poster reportedly reached the department’s WhatsApp audience.
Seeks Accountability from Punjab Government
Dhillon said the official channel was meant to disseminate departmental circulars, holiday notifications and information concerning admissions and examinations.
He urged the Chief Minister to take cognisance of the matter, fix responsibility if any lapse was established, and introduce clear guidelines governing content shared through government communication platforms.
The allegations were made by the BJP state president. The statement provided did not include a response from the Punjab government or the School Education Department, and the reported circulation of the poster could not be independently verified from the information available.
